149th Convention

Shine!
Spring is nearly here, and that means it's time to gear up for Convention! The 149th Convention of the Episcopal Diocese of Albany will be held Friday, June 9th through Sunday, June 11th at Camp of the Woods in Speculator. Our theme this year is Shine!, based on Matthew 5:16. There will be exciting speakers and engaging workshops. So get your registration in early and save your spot! You can register here.


Cathedral of All Saints

Cathedral Choir of Men and Boys - Concert Postponed
Due to the inclement weather throughout the Northeast, the Cathedral Choir of Men & Boys' spring concert has been postponed to Tuesday, April 25th at 7:00 p.m. at The Cathedral of All Saints, 62 S. Swan St., Albany, NY 12210. The choir will be performing Haydn's Lord Nelson Mass (Mass for Troubled Times). They will be joined by members of the Arcadia Players and guest soloists, with all being directed by Woodrow Bynum, Director of Music. Oaks of Righteousness

Carnvial, Open House and Chapel Dedication
Oaks of Righteousness invites you to join in the celebration of the feast of St. Patrick and the dedication of the new St. Patrick's Chapel on Friday, March 17th. Come enjoy games, fellowship and food at our St. Patrick's Day Carnival, then join in worship and giving thanks to God for the new chapel. It's all happening at the new location: 3027 6th Ave., Troy, NY 12180. The Carnival and Open House will be from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. The procession to the chapel will begin at 6:30 p.m. and the service of dedication, led by Bishop Love, will begin at 7:00 p.m. Please RSVP by clicking here.


Retreat Opportunity

Lenten Retreat Night
On Wednesday, March 22nd, Trinity Church 1336 1st Ave, Watervliet, NY 12189 is hosting a Lenten Retreat night entitled Mary, a Woman of Substance...from the Manger to the Cross, our Model, led by Marge Milanese. The retreat will begin at 7:00 p.m. Everyone is welcome and light refreshments will be served at the conclusion of the program. Start the evening off by attending Stations of the Cross at 6:30 p.m. There is no charge for the event, but to ensure that there are enough materials available, please register by calling (518) 852-8484. Healing Opportunity

Grief and Loss Support Group
Are you feeling stuck after a loss, finding it difficult to move forward? Come to the newly formed Grief and Loss Support Group at St. James' Church, 172 Ottawa Street, Lake George, NY 12845 with Certified Counselor Randi Klemish. The group will meet on Wednesdays from 3:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. in the Vestry.


Conference Opportunities

Chains Be Broken Conference
The conference Chains Be Broken: Understanding the Effects of Pornography and Working Towards a Solution will be held on Saturday, April 22nd from 8:15 a.m until 5:00 p.m. at The Church of the Messiah, 296 Glen St # 1, Glens Falls, NY 12801. Speakers will be Dr. William Struthers, Professor of Psychology at Wheaton College and author; Jessica Harris, blogger and author; and Audrey Assad, author, speaker, producer, and critically lauded songwriter and musician. The conference will be followed at 7:00 p.m. by a concert by Ms. Assad at The Wood Theater, 207 Glen Street, Glens Falls, NY 12801. For more information, click here. Clergy Conference
The Clergy Conference (Spouses Invited!) is taking a break this year. The Conference will return next year. To engage in fellowship with other clergy this time of year, attend the CPG Wellness Conference (see below).

CPG Clergy Planning for Wellness Conference
Whether you are newly ordained or have twenty years in ministry, the CPG Planning for Wellness Conference will help guide you towards a healthy life and a secure retirement. Topics to be covered include: managing your current finances, goal setting and planning, understanding pension benefits and the changes to the Clergy Pension Plan, and improving overall physical health. The conference will be held Tuesday, April 25th - Wednesday, April 26th at Christ the King Spiritual Life Center. This conference is for active clergy (clergy in the Pension Fund and not drawing retirement) and their spouses only. This Conference will be especially helpful for those thinking of retiring in the next few years. CPG Lay Planning for Wellness Conference
Any time is a good time to learn about planning for your retirement! But the best time is Thursday, April 27th at Christ the King Spiritual Life Center, when CPG will host a Lay Planning for Wellness Conference. Topics to be covered include: managing your current finances, goal setting and planning, understanding pension benefits, and improving overall physical health. Spouses are invited. Invitations will be sent this week with further details. It is hoped that parishes will give lay employees the day off to attend this conference. Healing Center at CtK

Healing Service Preacher - Rev. Mike Neufeld
The Guest Preacher for the Service of Healing at Christ the King Spiritual Life Center on Tuesday, March 14th will be the Rev. Anne Curtin, Executive Director of Healing a Woman's Soul, a ministry to victims of domestic violence. The Healing service includes inspirational music and praise, powerful testimonies about the healing power of Jesus Christ, and phenomenal teaching and preaching. At the end of the service, the Sacrament of Reconciliation is available as well as personal ministry with a prayer team. Individual Prayer Sessions are also offered by appointment for those who would like to receive more intensive prayer ministry. The service begins at 10 a.m. in the Oratory Chapel. A buffet lunch is available for purchase ($11 including tax) in the dining room of the Welcome Center beginning at 11:30 a.m. All are welcome.

Day of Quiet and Healing
The Healing Center at Christ the King will host a Day of Quiet and Healing on Saturday, March 11th from 9:30 a.m. until 3:30 p.m. For more information, click here.

Messy Fiesta
St. Andrew's Church, 10 N Main Ave, Albany, NY 12203 is hosting a Messy Fiesta, a Celebration and Training Day, on Saturday, March 11th from 9:00 a.m. until 3:30 p.m. The day will be led by Julie Hintz, Regional Messy Church Coordinator. She will cover topics such as reaching your community, engaging all ages, creating welcoming spaces, building relationships, encountering God together, and having fun. Learning Opportunity

Faith-Based First Responders
On Saturday, March 25th from 8:30 a.m. until 3:30 p.m., St. James' Church 305 Main Street, Oneonta, NY 13820, will host Faith Based First Responders: Spiritual Caregiving to Help Addicted Persons and Their Families. This workshop is designed to equip Senior Pastors, church leadership, and lay ministers with some of the tools necessary to address one of the most difficult crises that our community faces: addiction. The workshop will take an honest, science-based, spiritually sensitive walk through the issues that churches face when it comes to addiction. The workshop will cover recognizing addiction (the first step in spiritual caregiving), pastoral/spiritual care of addicted persons and families, self-understanding and understanding prevention strategies, and the role of community in the recovery from addiction. Prayer Opportunity

Capital Region Prayer Breakfast
The Capital Region Prayer Breakfast will be held on Wednesday, April 5th from 7:30 a.m. until 8:45 a.m. at The Desmond Hotel, 660 Albany Shaker Rd., Albany, NY 12211. The purpose of this breakfast is to bring together men and women in positions of responsibility within the Greater Albany area to ask for spiritual guidance in the carrying out of the duties and concerns for the well-being of the region. Sacred Sites Open House

Registration Now Open
Join the Landmarks Conservancy's 7th Annual Sacred Sites Open House celebrating New York's diverse historic houses of worship on Saturday, May 20th and Sunday, May 21st, 2017. This year's theme, Stained Glass: Windows on this World and the Next will focus on the significance and conservation of stained glass and windows in religious sites. Open House is a wonderful opportunity for a parish to showcase its art, architecture and history as well as the cultural programs and, most importantly, outreach ministries the parish provides the greater community. Stations of the Cross Opportunities

St. James', Lake George
St. James' Church, 172 Ottawa St, Lake George, NY 12845 will offer Stations of the Cross every Wednesday in Lent at 6:00 p.m.

St. Paul's, Greenwich
St. Paul's Church, 147 Main St, Greenwich, NY 12834 and St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church, 36 Bleeker Street, Greenwich, NY 12834 are jointly sponsoring Stations of the Cross every Friday during Lent at 7:00 p.m. The location will alternate between St. Michael and All Angels' Chapel at Christ the King Spiritual Life Center, 575 Burton Road, Greenwich, NY 12834 and St. Joseph's. Stations will be at St. Joseph's on March 17th and March 31st, and at Christ the King on March 24th and April 7th.

Christ Church, Herkimer
Christ Church, 300 N. Main St., Herkimer, NY 13350 will have Stations every Friday in Lent at 5:00 p.m. Enter through the parish house door on Mary Street.

Good Stewardship Opportunity

Renewable Heat Grant
If your parish is in Franklin, Clinton, or Essex County, the parish may be able to receive a $10,000 grant to convert to efficient, automated pellet wood boilers. Be a good steward of the parish's resources and of God's creation.
