Pilgrimage to Israel

Shoresh Study Tours from the Diocese of Albany

Last October our Bishop hosted a Shoresh Tour to Israel.  The trip was a big success, and will be the first of many such trips from the diocese.  Our hope is that as many Albany clergy and laity as are able and interested will make a similar pilgrimage.

Shoresh, in case you are wondering, is the main teaching ministry of CMJ, the Church’s Ministry among Jewish people, and of Christ Church in Jerusalem (the oldest Anglican Church in the Middle East – a venture, which led to the consecration in 1841 of the first Anglican Bishop of Jerusalem, Michael Solomon Alexander).  Shoresh is the Hebrew word for roots, and Shoresh tours are designed to contextualize Jesus of Nazareth in his First Century Jewish world.  The ministry of Shoresh serves to bridge history, theology, and culture with uniquely designed study tours, using first-rate guides, most of whom are Jewish believers.

Please contact Fr. Peter Pierson at phpierson@mac.com or 518-928-7663 if you are interested in joining one of these tours.  Here are the current Shoresh Trips planned from the Diocese of Albany.
