Dear Brothers and Sisters,
The Clergy Wives Conference begins tonight at Christ the King SLC with Elizabeth Miller as the principal speaker. This is our largest registration to date. I ask your prayers for these women who vigorously labor for the Kingdom, usually with little or no recognition. The Conference ends on Sunday after lunch.
ASCENSION DAY: Thursday, May 5, is the feast of the Ascension of our Lord, a Principal Feast and a Prayer book Holyday. The office will be closed.
The Sisters of St Mary began receiving unexpected telephone calls on Thursday morning after the video portraying their life was broadcast on Long Island the previous day. Mother Miriam fielded over 70 calls. The video, The Hidden Life is a good insight into the life of nuns in community, their history and the present sisters.
Our School for Apostolic Action has 2 great presentations in May. On May 7, Bishop Dave will offer a workshop on How To Share Your Faith Without Being Obnoxious. The next Saturday, May 14, the same folks who brought us Walk Thru The Bible will offer a workshop on Teaching With Style. Deacon Laurie continues to bring practical tools to help the local church.
The Dedication of Healing Center at the SLC is set for Sunday, May 22 at 5pm. This is open to the whole Diocese and those interested in the ministry of healing.
The Harvest is Ready 2005 Convention Registrations have exceeded 550. This year the number of Workshops has been expanded to 65. Nowhere else can a local parish find such an assembling of resources spiritual, educational, ministerial or organizational. It makes the setting for the ideal Vestry Retreat with all speakers and presenters provided. June 10 -12 at Camp of the Woods. You can also visit the web site and download a paper registration for mail-in.
The VBS (Vacation Bible School) offered for children, under the direction of Kim Harding, has a capacity of 65 kids. Register early.
I ask your Daily Intercession for Convention 2005. Please pray for the participants, the 11 to be ordained Deacon, the Service of Healing on Saturday evening, the Workshop Leaders, the General Sessions speakers including the Baroness Lady Caroline Cox, Bishop Justin (from Sudan), Bishop Harold Miller.
Pre-convention Meetings are scheduled for 4 regions in the Diocese. All are at 7:00 PM.

Work at the new Beaver Cross continues apace. The bunk beds and other furniture were unloaded this week and are being put in place. A VOLUNTEER WORKDAY will be held tomorrow, Sat, April 30.
The new Convent of the Community of Saint Mary will be dedicated on Sunday, August 14 at 4pm. Associates and Friends are welcome.

The Retired Clergy/Spouses spring gathering will be at the SLC on Wednesday, May 18 from 11 a.m. Thanks to Father Irv and Dottie Ballert for their leadership in this ministry.
The Ordinands retreat begins on May 27 at 5pm.
LORD JESUS, as we prepare to celebrate Your exultation to glory, lift our eyes and hearts and minds to You. Free us from bondages to the past or to anything that competes for Your honor. Fill us with the renewing power of Your Holy Spirit that we may be conformed to Your holy will. Amen.
