Dear Brothers & Sisters in Christ,

As you read this, I will be flying west to Salt Lake City for the post-Lambeth Conference House of Bishops meeting. We meet September 17 – 19. Keep us in your prayers.

This past weekend we held the Postulants and Candidates Retreat at the Spiritual Life Center. We have wonderful, God-centered men and women studying to become deacons and priests. It was a most rewarding weekend!

Next week is the Clergy Conference (with spouses invited) at Christ the King Spiritual Life Center. The Rev'd Dr. "Arnie" Kulkas is our guest speaker and his four talks are on the cure of souls and the care of our own souls. There is still time to register by going here. Scholarships are available.

Christ the King Spiritual Life Center is hosting "GLORY EXPLOSION", a weekend of praise, worship and healing. Service dates and times: October 3rd at 7 PM, and October 4th at 10 AM & 7 PM. Featured Speakers will be the Reverend Nigel Mumford, director of Healing Ministry at Christ the King, Rabbi Steve and Barbara Feldman of Seed of Abraham Messianic Congregation, the Reverend Tony Fiore, founder of "Living for Jesus Ministries International." and the Reverends Randy and Marie Smith, founders of "Feed My Lambs and Women of Light Ministries International." The Eighth Diocese of Albany Missions Conference is a short month away: Saturday, October 11, 2008 from 9am – 4pm at Christ the King Spiritual Life Center. The theme is Mission: Possible and our guest speaker is Mr. Ian Smith, Director of Mission for Church Missionary Society (CMS) Ireland. Looking ahead to November, the Deacons' Retreat is the weekend of the 14th – 16th with Judith McNutt as our retreat leader. Details on registering and the agenda for the weekend will be sent later. Rectors, vicars, and churchwardens are to plan on their parish deacon(s) attending the full weekend; including Sunday afternoon and evening.

Sister Mary Francis of the Community of Saint Mary, Eastern Province, died yesterday, Monday morning. She was life professed for 34 of her 88 years. She has no surviving family and her funeral will be Monday, September 22 at 1 PM at the CSM. In lieu of flowers, a memorial gift to the Community of Saint Mary would be appropriate.

Mr. Bill Hart, father of the Reverend Steve Hart, died on Sunday, September 14 in Texas. Fr. Hart is the rector of St. Michaels, Colonie.
