Congratulations to the parishioners of Trinity Church, Watervliet, who celebrated their 175 th anniversary on Sunday, August 23. After a mass which was attended by over 85 people, a picnic was held on the front lawn of the church which lasted most of the afternoon. Music was provided by the church Praise Band as well as by Fr. Marty. Parish organizations put up booths and the Daughters of the King offered to pray for anyone. Clergy from around the Diocese attended as well as members of other denominations in Watervliet. The parish is led by Fr. Marty Wendell who, with his wife Judy, are in their eleventh year at Trinity.

A ministry called “Cursillo”
Do you have members of your church that are interested in growing in their faith? Are they curious? Are they seeking, wanting to grow in their relationship with God? Then I ask you to consider inviting them to go on a Cursillo weekend and share with them the information below.
Cursillo is a weekend that will provide you with a plan for living the Christian life, through prayer, study and action. Cursillo is a weekend which will provide you with a set of tools over the course of a three day weekend that you will be able to use on your Fourth day which is the rest of your life.
Away from the pressure of the everyday world, participants who go on a weekend form a Christian community, learning, sharing, laughing, praying and living together in God’s grace. Participants are able to reflect on their own faith while gaining insights about the Christian walk.
In the course of the weekend, a series of 15 talks are given (ten by lay persons, five by clergy). Table groups discuss and respond to these talks. Eucharist is celebrated daily and the Daily Office is utilized. Time is provided for prayer, confession, and spiritual direction.
The weekend stresses each individual’s importance as a witness to Christ and presents proven and successful ways to living the Christian life in the various environments in which each person lives.
