The Reverend Canon Benjamin Nevitt, retired priest of the Diocese, died at home in his sleep on All Saints Day. He was 91 years old and is survived by his wife, Ann. They had been married for 63 years. A memorial service will be held at Prince of Peace Episcopal Church, Gettysburg, PA on Monday, November 16. The service begins at 2 PM. Interment will be at Arlington National Cemetery at a later date.
Rest eternal grant unto him, O Lord; let light perpetual shine upon him.

Healing Prayer
Fr Nigel Mumford remains in critical condition, but with GOOD NEWS to report. He had a slightly upward day yesterday. His oxygen pressure was mildly reduced with no side effects and this is a step forward. He is in the ICU and continues to be sedated so please - No Visitors. With concerns of transmission of the flu, please understand that all precautions must be taken to keep Fr. Nigel isolated. Your continued prayers for Fr Nigel and Lynn and his whole family are greatly appreciated.
Your prayers for healing and a full, timely recovery are invited for Joella Biddle, wife of Dcn Blair Biddle (St Pauls, Keeseville). Joella had hip replacement surgery last week and is doing well. She is at Meadowbrook Healthcare, Plattsburgh, NY.
Your prayers for healing and a full, timely recovery are also invited for Kevin Steckline, husband of Dcn Donna Steckline. Kevin had back surgery.
Your prayers for healing are invited for Patricia, mother of Trudy Bailey (wife of Dcn Greg Bailey, Gouverneur). She fell and broke her hip and she is in need of your prayers for her recovery.
Fr. John Thompson has returned to the pulpit at St. John’s in the Wilderness, Copake Falls this past week after a long convalescence. Thank you for all your prayers for healing.
Clergy transitions
We welcome the Reverend John McMillan and his wife, Ann, to St. Paul’s, Albany. Fr. McMillan is the new rector and his installation service is Sunday, December 13, 2009. The service begins at 4 pm. The McMillan’s come to us from the Diocese of Michigan.
We welcome the Reverend Paul Blanch and his wife, Maggie, to St. George’s, Schenectady. Fr. Blanch is the new rector and his installation service is Saturday, December 12. The service begins at 4 PM. The Blanch’s come to us from the Diocese of Lichfield, Church of England.
Zion Church, Hudson Falls has called the Reverend Rich Chandler as their new rector. His installation service is Sunday, November 22. Fr Chandler and his wife, Kelly, are transferring from Christ Church, Ballston Spa.
Deacon Gerry Clemmons will be ordained to the priesthood this coming Sunday, November 8 and installed as the rector of St. John’s, Cohoes. The service begins at 4 PM. For clergy vesting: alb with white stole.

Diocesan Holy Hour and Benediction for the month of Novmber will take place in St. Mary's Chapel at the CSM Convent in Greenwich on Thursday, November 12 at 10:30 am. Lunch ($8.50) will be available in the Trinity Dining Room of the SLC following the Holy Hour.
The Safeguarding God's Children Seminars for MINISTRIES is being offered on Saturday, November 14 at Zion Episcopal Church, Hudson Falls, NY. Presenters are Fr. Mike & Marianne Gorchov. The sexual abuse prevention program recommended throughout the Albany Diocese has been "Safeguarding God's Children" for MINISTRIES, (SGC-M) which is a specialized program developed by Church Pension Group. It is an education and training program offered for preventing and responding to child sexual abuse in everyday life and in ministry. It is geared to clergy, parents, youth workers, vestry members, and congregation members who are responsible for protecting children.
Women’s Cursillo Weekend is November 12-15 at Christ the King Spiritual Life Center. Do you know women in your church who are interested in growing in their faith? Are they curious? Around the Diocese
Your prayers are invited for the short term mission team traveling to St. Jacques’ Church and School in Lahoye , Haiti from St. Andrew’s Church, Albany. Team members are Egbert Bagg, Team Leader, Rev. Mary White, Rector, Robert Lillipopp, and Cynthia Schmehl. They leave on November 10 and return November 16. Please pray for safe travel, for physical protection from disease and injury, for spiritual protection, and above all for a spirit filled trip. This is an extension of the short term mission relationship between St. John’s, Troy and the Church of the Holy Spirit in Laschahobas. St Jacques is a mission of Church of the Holy Spirit.
St Andrew’s, Scotia , celebrates its centennial on Saturday, November 14 and is inviting friends of the parish to attend. The festivities begin with Eucharist at 4:00 PM with Bishop Love celebrating. Immediately following the service, there will be a simple reception in the parish lounge followed by a buffet dinner at 6:30 PM at St. Joseph’s School, 45 McArthur Drive, Scotia. Dinner is $15 per person and paid in advance reservations are required and can be made by contacting the Parish Office at (518) 374-8391 no later than November 8.
