The family of the Rev. Edward Fiebke, retired priest of the Diocese, invites you to a celebration of his 50 years as a priest. The celebration will be held at St. Luke’s Lutheran Church, Valatie on Saturday, November 28 beginning at 3PM. RSVP to Edward (Ted) Fiebke at (518) 794-7799 by Monday, November 23. Fr Fiebke served at St. John’s, Ogdensburg, St. Mark’s, Malone, and St. Paul’s, Kinderhook where he served for 29 years as rector.

John Hyde was commissioned as the new Cursillo Lay Director this past Sunday during the closing of the Women’s Cursillo Weekend. He succeeds Ron Edwards who completed his two year term as Lay Director. We are thankful for Ron’s faithful ministry and to John for accepting the mantel of this ministry.

The Cursillo Reunion is this coming Saturday, November 21 at Church of the Messiah, 296 Glen St, Glens Falls, 12801. The reunion starts is from 9:30 – 3 PM. Bring a lunch and invite your family and/or friends to accompany you.

The Women’s Epiphany Retreat will replace the Women’s Advent Retreat this year. Due to circumstances beyond anyone’s control, it was necessary to find a new retreat late in the preparation phase. Deacon Justine Guernsey has graciously accepted the call to lead the retreat. She does, however, need preparation time. The Retreat (Tis a Gift to Be Simple) is January 8 -10, 2010 at Christ the King SLC. The Reverend Richard Lehmann has been called to become the rector, St. Matthews, Latham in January 2010. The Reverend Ron Harrison retires at the end of 2009. Fr. Harrison has been rector of St. Matthews for 18 years.

The Reverend Jim French has been called as rector, St. Luke’s, Cambridge effective January, 2009. Fr. John Hopkins has been the interim vicar at St. Luke’s.

The Reverend Paul Blanch’s institution as rector, St. George’s, Schenectady is Saturday, December 12. The service begins at 4 PM. Clergy: Alb with white stole. RSVP to stgeorges@nycap.rr.com .

To accommodate requests to announce the various parish Christmas Bazaars and Lessons & Carols Services throughout the diocese, we will send two separate Diocesan Update Addendums collectively announcing these events. The parish Christmas Bazaars DUA will go out Thursday, November 19 ( cut off for submission is Nov 18). The parish Lessons & Carol Services DUA will go out Thanksgiving weekend ( cut off for submission is Nov 25). Announcements need to be concise and include who (parish name & city), what, when (date and time), where (if different from parish), and why (if applicable). Lists of crafters/vendors, musicians, etc. may be edited to conserve space.
