Diocesan Update - April 20, 2010
Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,
The Great Chapter of the Cathedral of All Saints, Albany, has elected The Very Reverend David Collum to serve as the 20 th Dean of the Cathedral upon the retirement of Dean Marshall Vang. Fr. Collum is currently serving as Rector of St. John’s, Delhi and St. Peter’s, Hobart, as well as Dean of the Susquehanna Deanery. His first Sunday at the Cathedral will be Pentecost Sunday, May 23 rd. He will be formally instituted as Dean of the Cathedral on Saturday, June 19 th.
I am very appreciative to Fr. Collum and his wife Beth for their faithful service at St. John’s and St. Peter’s these past several years as well as Fr. Collum’s service as Dean of the Susquehanna. We look forward to all the Lord has planned for them at the Cathedral of All Saints. Please keep the Collum’s and all the people of St. John’s, St. Peter’s and the Susquehanna Deanery in your prayers as they say their goodbyes and prepare for this next chapter in their lives.
Dean Vang’s last Sunday at the Cathedral prior to retiring is Sunday, May 2 nd. Please keep Dean Vang and the Cathedral Family in your prayers as well. A special Choral Evensong in honor of Dean Vang’s ministry will be held May 2 nd at 3:30, preceded by an Organ Recital at 3:00 p.m. Everyone is invited for this special celebration.
Our annual Diocesan Convention is scheduled for June 11, 12 and 13. In preparation for Convention, four pre-convention meetings will be held at four locations around the Diocese.
· Monday, May 3, at the Church of the Messiah in Glens Falls;
· Tuesday, May 4, at St. Mark's Church in Malone;
· Wednesday, May 5, at All Saints' Cathedral in Albany;
· Thursday, May 6, at Christ Church in Cooperstown. All of these meetings are at 7 pm.
These meetings will provide an opportunity to hear the budget for 2011 presented as well as looking at some of the Convention reports and asking questions about the Anglican Covenant. The locations listed here correct an error on the Diocesan website.
