Beaver Cross and Youth Ministry Update

 Preparations for the Beaver Cross overnight and day camps are well underway! We are pleased to announce that Windy Clark will be at the helm of the overnight camps this summer. Windy’s exceptional administrative skills and commitment to a camp philosophy of building community within the camps is evident in our planning.

 Meaghan Wilkins will be at the helm of the day camps. Meaghan’s strong history of success directing community-sponsored day camps is already translating to increased day camp registration. And since day camp is comprised of local youth, Meaghan’s year-round youth responsibilities will focus of community programs, after school services and ecumenical groups visiting Christ the King.

 We are also delighted to share that the Reverend Tyler Slade, and his soon to be wife Audrey, will be joining our diocesan youth team this September. Tyler and Audrey’s impressive experience with Christian camps, parish youth groups, and national youth organizations will be invaluable as they focus on diocesan youth programs, youth leader training and direct parish support. They will be the featured speaker for the Diocese Convention Youth Rally at Camp-of-the-Woods and are excited about working to help each of our parish youth efforts.

·          The camp and CtK seasonal staff is being assembled. There are openings for kitchen, counselors and support staff. Call us at 518-692-9550 to inquire.

·          There is a strong emphasis on Christian formation for the overnight camps this summer. We are looking for Christian education support. If interested, please contact Lay Canon Matt Baker directly at 518-692-9550 or mbaker@ctkcenter.org .

·          The national jobless rate remains about ten percent. There have been an unusually high number of requests for camp scholarships this summer. We have never denied a young person the adventure of summer camp because of personal financial circumstance. Please consider supporting our kids by sponsoring one. Every gift to Beaver Cross will help support our scholarship requests.

·          Summer Camp Open House is this Sunday, May 16, from 1 pm – 5 pm. Come meet the staff, tour the facility, and enjoy an cookout available throughout the afternoon.

 Please keep Windy, Meaghan, Tyler, Audrey and the Beaver Cross camp staff teams in your daily prayers. May our Lord use each of them to help every camper this summer begin or strengthen their relationship to Him.
