Diocesan Update - July 1, 2010
Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,
In last year’s convention address, I hinted at the importance of not only reading the Bible, but also trying to memorize key Bible verses. In this year’s address,I invited and encouraged parishes to send me a list (preferably by August 15 th) of the ten scripture passages that individuals in the parish have found to be most helpful or meaningful in their lives. Please send your scripture passages to BibleVerses2010@albanydiocese.org and please include the translation used, book, chapter, and verse number(s). I have already received handwritten submissions from a couple of individuals. Thank you!
We will compile a copy of the top 50 to 100 passages and send them out so children and adults alike can be touched and blessed by them, hopefully committing to memory those they find most helpful. We are exploring ways to honor and recognize (at a parish and diocesan level) those folks who commit themselves to memorizing God’s Word.
