Diocesan Update

September 16, 2011

Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,

Bishop Love is attending the House of Bishops Fall Meeting in Quito, Ecuador, through Tuesday, September 20.  Wednesday, September is his travel day home.  The Iglesia Episopal del Ecuator is part of the Episcopal Church and has two dioceses:  Central Diocese of Ecuator and Litoral Diocese of Ecuador.  Please hold up in prayer Bishop Love and all the Bishops attending this meeting of the House of Bishops.

Please keep Mother Miriam and the Sisters of St. Mary in Luwinga, Malawi, Africa, in your prayers as they prepare for the Life Profession of Sister Jane Phiri to take place on Saturday, September 17, 2011 at St. Mark’s Parish in Mzuzu.  Sister Jane’s final vows to the consecrated life of a Sister of St. Mary will be received by the Rt. Rev’d Fanuel Magangani, Third Bishop of the Diocese of Northern Malawi and the African sisters’ Bishop Visitor.  Anglican religious will be attending from Zambia and Tanzania.

Sister Jane was one of the last Malawian sisters to receive novitiate training in America, joining us in Greenwich in 2005.   Pictures of her are posted in the Albany Intercessors Blogspot archives (September 9.)

Your prayers are requested for the Rev Donna and Keving Steckline household upon the death of Deacon Steckline’s brother, Robert Hugh Howard.  He died this past Wednesday.   Per his wishes, there will be neither calling hours nor funeral service.

Rest eternal grant unto him, O Lord; let light perpetual shine upon him.

Almighty God, Father of all mercies and giver of comfort: Deal graciously, we pray, with all who mourn; that, casting all their care on you, they may know the consolation of your love; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen (BCP pg 505)
