Dining Opportunities

Spaghetti Dinner
All are welcome at Trinity Church, 585 Fourth Avenue, Troy, NY 12182 for a free Spaghetti Dinner on Wednesday, October 25th from 5:00 p.m until 7:00 p.m. in the parish hall. Dinner includes spaghetti and sauce, bread, salad, and dessert.

Thanksgiving Dinner
Church of the Good Shepherd, 26 Moyer St, Canajoharie, NY 13317 is hosting a dinner on Thanksgiving Day, Thursday, November 23rd at 2:00 p.m. All are welcome to come and feast! Cathedral of All Saints

Acolyte Festival
Mend your parish banners, polish up your processional crosses, and clean your thuribles and get ready to fest! The Acolyte Festival is coming! The Cathedral of All Saints, 62 S. Swan Street, Albany NY 12210 will be the site of the Grand Procession - a colorful parade of all the acolytes participating - followed by a Eucharist service on Saturday, October 28th. All first-time participants will receive a medal and seasoned veterans will receive a pin. There will be lunch after the service and workshops in the afternoon - don't miss it! If you're not an acolyte, come anyway and enjoy the pageantry. Doors open at 8:30 a.m. and the last workshop should finish up by 2:30 p.m. The cost for the day is $15 and includes coffee and Cider Belly Donuts in the morning and lunch. To register, click here.

Grief Support Opportunity

Grief Support Group
Comfort For those Who Mourn is a 6-week Christian non-denominational grief support group for all those who are mourning the death of a loved one. The next group will meet at St. Luke’s Church, 40 McBride Rd, Mechanicville, NY 12118, from 4:30 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. beginning Wednesday, October 18th. Following the group, all participants are invited to stay for Eucharist at 6:00 p.m. and a potluck supper. Mons Nubifer Sanctus

Mons Nubifer Sanctus is offering a retreat entitled Contemplative Prayer for Caregivers and Helping Professionalsr Friday October 20th through Sunday, October 22nd. This program introduces the theology and practice of contemplative prayer while focusing reflections specifically on how contemplative practice prepares and strengthens for service to others. Contemplative practice helps to establish discernment and clear boundaries, to free service from manipulation and coercion. You need not be an active caregiver or in a helping profession to attend. This retreat is offered in honor of Saint Luke the Evangelist and Physician whose feast day is October 18. For more information or to register, click here.

Healing a Woman's Soul

An evening to benefit Healing a Woman's Soul (HAWS), entitled Anything Chocolate... will be hosted by St. Paul's Church, 21 Hackett Blvd, Albany, NY 12208 Saturday, October 21st from 6:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. There will be a dessert buffet, silent auction, the second annual Paula award for a volunteer helping victims of domestic violence, and an "Anything Chocolate..." Contest. "Anything Chocolate..." contest entries are due no later than October 21st at 5:00 p.m. at St. Paul's. Please bring entries the size of a small pie or 8 cookies or muffins, in other words 6 servings. Please use disposable plates as no plates will be returned. The cost for the event is $20. Emergency Preparedness Workshop
Worship is underway when suddenly...there's a shooter in the worship space, or a major fire or chemical spill requires your congregation to "shelter in place," or your roof collapses in a storm, requiring evacuation and an alternate plan for services long-term, or a Hurricane Harvey/Irma/Maria disaster requires the use of the worship space as a community center or triage location. Do you have a plan? On Monday, October 23rd, from 9:00 a.m. until noon, Glens Falls Hospital, 100 Park St, Glens Falls, NY 12801, is hosting an educational program entitled Emergency Preparedness for Faith-Based Organizations in the Community Learning Center at the hospital. This workshop is designed to make sure clergy and staff are prepared in the case of a disaster. Healing Center at CtK

Healing Service Preacher - Rt. Rev. William Love
The Guest Preacher for the Service of Healing at Christ the King Spiritual Life Center on Tuesday, October 24th will be the Rt. Rev. William Love, Ninth Bishop of Albany. You can read his full bio here. The Healing service includes inspirational music and praise, powerful testimonies about the healing power of Jesus Christ, and phenomenal teaching and preaching. At the end of the service, the Sacrament of Reconciliation is available as well as personal ministry with a prayer team. Individual Prayer Sessions are also offered by appointment for those who would like to receive more intensive prayer ministry. The service begins at 10 a.m. in the Oratory Chapel. A buffet lunch is available for purchase ($11 including tax) in the dining room of the Welcome Center beginning at 11:30 a.m. All are welcome.

Reviving Romance Couples Conference
Take this special opporutnity to hear from a couple who have been investing in each other as well as in marriages and leaders in the church for over 40 years. Their goal is to help you see the centrality of your faith in God for a healthy marriage. The conference begins at 6:00 p.m. on Friday, November 10th and ends at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 11th at Christ the King Spiritual Life Center. Cost is $205/couple. Did Level I just whet your appetite for healing prayer? You can take it to the next level by attending the Level II course which will be offered November 2nd - 5th. Welcome Home Initiative
The Welcome Home Initiative is a veterans’ ministry that offers healing for military veterans and the spouses of military veterans who have served their country in combat. These veterans may be suffering in varying degrees from post-traumatic stress or moral injury and are in need of soul repair. The format of the program helps veterans and spouses understand the hidden impact of combat and provides a safe space for emotional healing. Photo Opportunity

The Albany Episcopalian Christmas Issue
Is there a photo of your church that shows its Christmas splendor that you would like others to see? Now you have a chance to show your stuff! The Albany Episcopalian would like to highlight a photo of one church in the Diocese, taken at Christmas time, for its upcoming December 2017 issue. Photos submitted should have a Christmas setting (garland, poinsettias, decorated tree, etc.), be in jpeg format (.jpg), and be approximately 1600 x 2400 pixels (you can find this in the properties of the file) and no less than 1200 x 1800 pixels. Due to limits on the email server, the total size for the message cannot exceed 5 MB, so emails with attachments totaling more than this will be rejected by the server. Color photos are preferred, but black and white photos will be considered. To be considered, e-mail your photos, along with the name of the photographer, to taeeditor@albanydiocese.org no later than November 1st. You may enter as many photos as you wish. The name of the photographer of the photo chosen will be noted in the same issue.

Assembly Opportunity

Daughters of the King Assembly
The Daughters of the King will assemble on Saturday, November 4th from 8:30 a.m. until 3:30 p.m. at Christ the King Spiritual Life Center. The title is The Kingdom of Heaven - Building a Nest in God's Tree. Mtr. Jean DeVaty, Diocesan DOK Chaplain, will be the speaker and celebrant. Dcn. Barb Mitchell will give an update from the Jr. Daughters' retreat she attended in July. The Assembly will collect items for, and the Eucharist offering will be designated for, the Albany Refugee Resettlement Ministry. Cost for the day is $25 which includes lunch. Women's Weekend
The Cursillo Women's weekend on Friday, October 20th through Sunday, October 22nd at Christ the King Spiritual Life Center has reached capacity! The names of the Team and Candidates can be found here. For everyone that has attended a weekend please join us for Holy Hour Saturday October 21st at 4:30 in the Healing Center Chapel. We will set up for the serenade around 6:00 p.m. in the lobby of the Welcome Center. Closing on Sunday will be in the Welcome Center dining hall at 3:00 p.m. Please remind everyone to bring a dish to share and bring family and friends.

Cursillo Reunion/Diocesan Ultreya
The Fall Reunion/Diocesan Ultreya has been scheduled for November 11th at The Church of the Messiah, 296 Glen St # 1, Glens Falls, NY 12801. The day begins at 9:00 a.m. with fellowship, coffee and music. Liturgy begins at 10 a.m. with Bishop Love and will be followed by the day's program. The day finishes with the Eucharist, which begins at 1:00 p.m. Remember to bring your lunch. This is a great way to introduce family and friends to Cursillo! A Secretariat meeting will be held after the reunion with a review of the first 3-day weekend as part of the agenda.
