Bible Study Opportunity

There is a "BLT" Bible Study (Bible and Lunch Together) being offered on Mondays from 12:30 p.m. until 1:00 p.m. in the food court of the Empire Plaza Concourse in Albany. Learning Opportunity

Safeguarding God's Children
The Safeguarding God's Children program, required for any church employees or volunteers that have any interaction at all with children, will be offered at St. James' Church, 172 Ottawa St, Lake George, NY 12845 on Saturday November 11th from 9:00 a.m. until lunch. Certificates are only good for a period of three years, so if you haven't been to the training in the last three years, this is a perfect opportunity to renew your certificate. Volunteer Opportunity

St. Peter's Overflow Shelter
Could you consider giving up one evening this winter to offer the gift of hospitality and show another the love and mercy of God? The St. Peter's Overflow Homeless Shelter, 107 State Street Albany, NY, will open for its 9th season on December 1st to augment the ministry of the Capital City Rescue Mission to Albany's homeless. This year, up to 20 women can be housed each evening through March 18th. St. Peter's is currently receiving donations of food items and financial support. Food items needed include coffee, tea, sugar, popcorn and snacks, cereal (hot and cold), peanut butter, bread, fresh fruit, milk and juice along with fresh baked items. These can be dropped off at the church office any weekday, or brought to the church on Sundays. Volunteers (women volunteers only) are also being scheduled to offer hospitality during the evening hours, 8:00 p.m. until 11:00 p.m. The overflow shelter is on the 2nd floor of the Guild House, next to the church. Orientation for new (or returning) volunteers will be held Saturday, November 18th, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Peter’s Church, 107 State St., Albany NY 12207. Fall Bazaar

Zion Church, 224 Main St, Hudson Falls, NY 12839 is hosting a Fall Bazaar on Saturday, November 18th from 9:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. Shop, have lunch, participate in a cookie walk and purchase items from local vendors and crafters. A Day of Recovery Celebration

On Saturday, November 18th there will be a Day of Recovery Celebration in Mechanicville. There will be pizza, a screening of the film Reversing the Stigma and a panel discussion at the Scerbo Center, 52 Williams Street, Mechanicville, NY 12118. Week of Prayer for Christian Unity
Each year the Week of Prayer for Christian Unity is observed worldwide from January 18th to the 25th. The idea that gave birth to this observance came from an Episcopal priest, Fr. Paul Wattson, the founder of the Society of the Atonement, also known as the Graymoor Friars and Sisters. With the terrible division and resurgence of hate groups in our nation, the observance of this week takes on even greater importance in order to witness that Jesus's prayer is "That they all may be one." A sample "2018 Week of Prayer Sample Kit" is available from Franciscan Friars of the Atonement. This kit will provide all you need to plan an observance of the Week of Prayer in your area. St. Mary's Institute
St. Mary's Institute of Christian Studies' session with Father Christopher Brown on the writings of St. Augustine of Hippo scheduled for November 14th has been cancelled. The last session of the series will be held on January 16th.

Cathedral of All Saints

Spanish Mass
The Cathedral of All Saints, 62 South Swan Street, Albany, NY 12210 will host a Spanish Mass (or “Misa”) on Saturday, November 11th, at 5:00 p.m. in the Cathedral’s Lady Chapel. This mass, held regularly on the first Saturday of each month, will be celebrated by native Spanish speaker the Rev. William Hinrichs. Following the mass, Mr. Seth Leech, a bilingual immigration attorney will be available to speak to worshipers about immigration matters, political asylum, and other concerns especially important to the Capital Region's Spanish-speaking community. Healing Service
Christ Church, 70 Mansion St, Coxsackie, NY 12051, will be hosting its monthly healing service on Wednesday, November 8th at 7:00 p.m. The service is intended to be Spirit-led and generally includes music, a short talk and prayer. Everyone is welcome. Come and bring a hurting friend.

Thanksgiving Evensong

Healing Center at CtK

Healing Service Preacher - Rev. Derik Roy
The Guest Preacher for the Service of Healing at Christ the King Spiritual Life Center on Tuesday, November 14th will be the Rev. Derik Roy, Rector, Christ Church, Ballston Spa. You can read his full bio here. The Healing service includes inspirational music and praise, powerful testimonies about the healing power of Jesus Christ, and phenomenal teaching and preaching. At the end of the service, the Sacrament of Reconciliation is available as well as personal ministry with a prayer team. Individual Prayer Sessions are also offered by appointment for those who would like to receive more intensive prayer ministry. The service begins at 10 a.m. in the Chapel of St. Michael and All Angels. A buffet lunch is available for purchase ($11 including tax) in the dining room of the Welcome Center beginning at 11:30 a.m. All are welcome.

Welcome Home Initiative
The Welcome Home Initiative is a veterans’ ministry that offers healing for military veterans and the spouses of military veterans who have served their country in combat. These veterans may be suffering in varying degrees from post-traumatic stress or moral injury and are in need of soul repair. The format of the program helps veterans and spouses understand the hidden impact of combat and provides a safe space for emotional healing. You are invited to come out and support the veterans who attend the next Welcome Home Initiative whether you are a veteran or not, at the closing ceremony on Wednesday, November 15th at 10:00 a.m. in the Chapel of St. Michael and All Angels.


Fall Reunion/Diocesan Ultreya

The Fall Reunion/Diocesan Ultreya has been scheduled for November 11th at The Church of the Messiah, 296 Glen St # 1, Glens Falls, NY 12801. The day begins at 9:00 a.m. with fellowship, coffee and music. Liturgy begins at 10 a.m. with Bishop Love and will be followed by the day's program. There will be a Cursillo update, teaching about Ultreya and grouping and a presentation about the Daughters of the King. The day finishes with the Eucharist, which begins at 1:00 p.m. Remember to bring your lunch. This is a great way to introduce family and friends to Cursillo! A Secretariat meeting will be held after the reunion with a review of the first 3-day weekend as part of the agenda. All are invited to the secretariat meeting. For more information, click here.

Knockerball Soccer Game
St. Luke's on the Hill invites you to come out for a Knockerball Soccer game on Friday, November 24 from 11:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. at Halfmoon Town Soccer Fields, Harris Road and Route 236 in the town of Halfmoon. This game is a fundraiser for St. Luke's Recovery Resource Center, a ministry of St. Luke's that provides meeting space for groups recovering from the disease of addiction and sponsors a Speakers’ Series every other month. At the Knockerball Soccer Game, teams of three to six people will compete with like opponents for one hour. Substitutes may be utilized. Teams pay $150.00 to register. Advent/Christmas Opportunities

Bible Study
On Wednesday evenings in December, St. James' Church, 172 Ottawa St, Lake George, NY 12845 will present an Advent study based on the movie It's a Wonderful Life. The study will include Bible verses that coordinate with certain scenes from the movie. A soup supper will be provided. Dinner starts at 5:30 p.m. with the program following.

Lessons and Carols
Enrich your Advent season by attending one of these Lessons and Carols services around the diocese. Here's a list of some of the events happening outside of the normal Sunday worship time:
