Week of Prayer for Christian Unity
Each year the Week of Prayer for Christian Unity is observed worldwide from
January 18th to the 25th. The idea that gave birth to this observance came from an Episcopal priest, Fr.
Paul Wattson, the founder of the Society of the Atonement, also known as the Graymoor Friars and Sisters.
With the terrible division and resurgence of hate groups in our nation, the observance of this week takes
on even greater importance in order to witness that Jesus's prayer is "That they all may be one." A sample
"2018 Week of Prayer Sample Kit" is available from Franciscan Friars of the Atonement. This kit will
provide all you need to plan an observance of the Week of Prayer in your area. To get your kit, mail a
check for $7.00 made out to Graymoor Ecumenical & Interreligious Institute with "2018 Week of Prayer
Sample Kit" in the memo line to Week of Prayer, Graymoor Ecumenical & Interreligious Institute,
Franciscan Friars of the Atonement, Route 9 - P.O. Box 300, Garrison, NY 10524-0300. You may also order
