Cathedral of All Saints

Spanish Mass
The Cathedral of All Saints, 62 South Swan Street, Albany, NY 12210 will host a Spanish Mass (or “Misa”) on Saturday, December 2nd, at 5:00 p.m. in the Cathedral’s Lady Chapel. This mass, held regularly on the first Saturday of each month, will be celebrated by native Spanish speaker the Rev. William Hinrichs. Following the mass, a bilingual immigration attorney will be available to speak to worshipers about immigration matters, political asylum, and other concerns especially important to the Capital Region's Spanish-speaking community. Messiah Performance
The Cathedral Choir of Men and Boys presents George Frederic Handel's oratorio, Messiah on Tuesday, December 5th at 7:00 p.m. Special guest soloists will be Sarah Brailey, soprano; Emily Marvosh, alto; Ruairi Bowen, tenor; and Jonathan Woody, bass. The choir and soloists will be accompanied by a period instrument ensemble led by the concert master of Boston's celebrated Handel and Haydn Society, Aysslinn Nosky, and conducted by Woodrow Bynum, Director of Music at the Cathedral. Worship Opportunities

Taizé Service
An Advent Taizé Service will be held on Tuesday, December 12 at 6:30 p.m. at St. Ann's, 37 Division St, Amsterdam, NY 12010. A Taizé worship service involves sung and chanted prayers, meditation, a period of silence, liturgical readings, and icons. There is no preaching. The style of prayer practiced at Taizé has attracted many worshipers from around the globe and from many different denominations. The prayers consist of "short chants, repeated again and again," according to an introduction in a Taizé songbook. The words are sung over many times.

Healing Service
Christ Church, 70 Mansion St, Coxsackie, NY 12051, will be hosting its monthly healing service on Wednesday, December 13th at 7:00 p.m. The service is intended to be Spirit-led and generally includes music, a short talk and prayer. Everyone is welcome. Come and bring a hurting friend.

Luncheon Opportunity

Lunch and Lavender
Join St. Michael's Women's Ministry for a luncheon on Wednesday, December 13 from 11:00 a.m. until 2:30 p.m. at St. Michael's, 49 Killean Park, Albany, NY 12205. There will be a review of some special areas of Lavender Springs retreat "where women rest in God’s faithfulness," a lite lunch, and a lavender shoppe where you can get some of your Christmas shopping done with Lavender Farms, an all natural Washington County lavender farm with nearly 5,000 lavender plants. Healing Service Preacher - Rt. Rev. William Love
The Guest Preacher for the Service of Healing at Christ the King Spiritual Life Center on Tuesday, December 5th will be the Rev. Mark Chesnut, Center for Healing and Spiritual Formation. You can read his full bio here. The Healing service includes inspirational music and praise, powerful testimonies about the healing power of Jesus Christ, and phenomenal teaching and preaching. At the end of the service, the Sacrament of Reconciliation is available as well as personal ministry with a prayer team. Individual Prayer Sessions are also offered by appointment for those who would like to receive more intensive prayer ministry. The service begins at 10 a.m. in the Oratory Chapel. A buffet lunch is available for purchase ($11 including tax) in the dining room of the Welcome Center beginning at 11:30 a.m. All are welcome.

Advent Retreat
An Advent Retreat entitled Come, Lord Jesus will be hosted on Friday, December 8th through Saturday, December 9th at Christ the King Spiritual Life Center. For more information, click here.

Advent/Christmas Opportunities

Bible Study
On Wednesday evenings in December, St. James' Church, 172 Ottawa St, Lake George, NY 12845 will present an Advent study based on the movie It's a Wonderful Life. The study will include Bible verses that coordinate with certain scenes from the movie. A soup supper will be provided. Dinner starts at 5:30 p.m. with the program following.

Advent Quiet Day
The Episcopal Churches of the Adirondack Mission will be holding an Advent Quiet Day at the Church of the Good Shepherd, NYS Route 9, Chestertown on Saturday December 16th from 9:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. The program will be based on the book Simply Wait by Pamela Hawkins. The themes will be anticipation, hope, patience and obedience as Christmas arrives. There will be ample time for prayer, meditation and journaling.
