Considering a call to ministry?

Discerning a call to ministry can be an exciting time, but also one full of anxiety and questions. In the Episcopal Church, a call to ministry is discerned in community and the process for ordination is governed by the Canons of the Episcopal Church, Title III. The Episcopal Church recognizes three orders of ordained ministry: Deacon, Priest, and Bishop. Bishops are elected from Episcopal clergy. Priests are ordained first to the Transitional Diaconate and then, at least 6 months later, to the Priesthood. Deacons who remain deacons are often referred to as Vocational Deacons.
