2017 Youth Mission Trip to Northern Ireland

Let the Madness Begin!!

Looking for a Mission Opportunity to grow your faith and serve in Northern Ireland? Want to attend Summer Madness, Ireland's premiere Christian festival?

Consider joining the 7th Albany Northern Ireland Teen Mission Trip tentatively scheduled for June 26th through July 9th, 2017.

Summer Madness is Ireland's largest Christian festival aimed at encouraging youth to reflect on issues that confront them in their social and spiritual development via seminars, music and worship. Teens will have the opportunity to deepen their faith and build solid Christian relationships, while worshipping under a circus tent.

Sound like fun? Here's the deets:

Eligibility/Number of Participants To Be Selected
Teens Teens must be at least 15 years and no older than 20 years at the time of the trip. Eleven or twelve teens will be selected from the applicants to participate in the trip.
Adults Three or four adult Chaperones will be selected from the applicants for this mission trip. Two or three of the chaperones will be lay people, one or two will be clergy (priest or deacon).

Mail your completed application to Karen Love, 25 Blue Bay Road, Chestertown, NY 12817 no later than December 7th. Applications postmarked after December 7th will not be considered. The team will be chosen by the end of December.

Preparation Requirements
The teen team will meet five times from February to June to bond as a team and prepare for the trip. These meetings will be in different locations. The adult team will also meet once in January.

Mission Opportunity
The planning team is currently hoping to work with On the Move with the Diocese of Derry and Raphoe. Following Summer Madness, teens will have the opportunity to serve others by working with Irish teens in local communities.

Approximately $1850 per person. All participants (chaperones included) are expected to provide their own funding for the trip. Fund raising is highly encouraged.

Additional information
Please note: All participants will be required to camp in tents for Summer Madness and sleep on parish floors (chaperones with air mattresses) during the mission outreach. Extensive walking and physical exertion is required during this trip. All participants should be prepared for limited sleep and limited access to electronic devices during the trip.
