Diocesan Convention 2012

“Dare To Share The Joy Of Jesus!”

Eastertide 2012

Dear Friends in Christ,

The 144th Annual Convention of the Diocese of Albany will be held Friday, June 8th thru Sunday the 10th, at Camp of the Woods in Speculator, New York. I invite not only all the clergy and deputies to convention, but also their families, vestry members and their families, as well as all parish youth group members, and everyone else throughout the Diocese who are willing to step out of the boat and join me and others for what is sure to be a Holy Spirit –filled weekend as we “Dare To Share The Joy Of Jesus” at this year’s Diocesan Convention.

For those who like to arrive early, registration at Camp of the Woods begins Friday at 10:00 a.m. The first of the “Early Bird Special” workshops start at 2:30 p.m. We will begin serving dinner at 5:15 p.m. for those attending the Youth Rally, and 5:30 p.m. for everyone else. Evening Prayer is at 7p.m. followed by the Bishop’s Address and the official opening of the Convention at approximately 7:30 p.m. The first ballot of voting will take place Friday night before adjourning for the evening. It is hoped that the business session will be concluded by lunch on Saturday, but may be extended if necessary.

The Diocesan Convention is truly a family event with plenty to do for young and old alike: daycare and Vacation Bible School for the younger kids; the Youth Rally for Junior to Senior High kids; a variety of wonderful workshops; Spirit-filled worship; beautiful music (traditional and contemporary); excellent preaching; a time for prayer and healing ministry; Christian fellowship with family and friends from around the Diocese and the wider Anglican Communion; entertainment and recreation, all in a beautiful Adirondack setting.

This year’s special guests from outside the Diocese will include: Bishop William and Judith Godfrey (Bishop of Peru); Bishop Mike and Linda Chapman (Bishop Suffragan of Peru); Bishop Grant and Wendy LeMarquand (Assisting Bishop in Egypt and the Horn of Africa); and our dear friends Bishop Harold and Liz Miller (Bishop of Down and Dromore).

The Diocesan Convention is always one of the true highlights of the year. Please join us. In so doing, I pray you and your family will be richly blessed.

Faithfully in Christ,
