Parish Leadership Conferences

January 10, 2013

Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,

The 2013 Parish Leadership Conferences (PLCs) are coming up soon, and I am looking forward to seeing you and many others from your parish there. I recognize the personal investment you are making by attending and so, as usual, there is no fee for the PLCs. Lunch, refreshments and materials are provided. New this year is online registration. Please register in advance so we can plan accordingly for food and beverage service, handouts, and seating. You can register online by clicking here.

Each PLC begins with coffee and registration at 8:30 am. The program begins at 9 am and you will receive my blessing and be on the road heading home by 4 pm.

The Parish Leadership Conferences are for everyone in any leadership role in his or her parish: priests, deacons, church wardens, vestry members, treasurers, Sunday School teachers, Altar Guild members, Daughters of the King members, Episcopal Church Women members, Acolyte Coordinators, Missions Coordinators, Outreach Coordinators, or any other parish leadership position. I encourage you to invite any others who might be interested to come as well and hope that you will encourage as many people from your parish to attend as you can. I would be blessed to see 10, 20 or more people from each parish! Encourage the three newest members of your parish to attend. They see your parish through "new" eyes and can provide valuable feedback.

The PLCs will kick off the Convention theme for this year, which is "Passion for Jesus." My prayer is that by focusing on developing an initial or renewed and deeper passion for Jesus, each individual and parish will be emboldened to reach out to those who don't yet know of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. A panel of six young clergy will share how they came to have a passionate commitment to Jesus and how they are trying to bring others to that same level of commitment.

Each PLC consists of three sessions. In the first session, each of the six clergy will share how they came to have a passionate commitment to Jesus. In the second session, they will address "How a Passionate Commitment to Jesus Affects the Life of My Parish." And in the final session, the panelists will share on "Developing a Passion for Jesus in all the People in my Parish." There will be ample opportunity in this session to discuss and ask the panel questions about what they have shared.

The panelists are:

The Rev. Adam Egan, Rector, St. Stephen's Church, Delmar
The Rev. Karl Griswold-Kuhn, Rector, St. Paul's, Kinderhook
The Rev. Scott Harding, Rector, Church of the Messiah, Glens Falls
The Rev. Neal Longe, Rector, St. Ann's Church, Amsterdam
The Rev. Tyler Slade, Diocesan Youth Minister
The Rev. Christina Vance, Co-pastor, Oaks of Righteousness Mission, Troy

I am looking forward to seeing you at one of the Parish Leadership Conferences.

Faithfully in Christ Jesus,

+Bill
